Small Rozsutec (1 343.5 m a.s.l.) is located in the eastern part of the Krivánska Malá Fatra mountains. It is characteristic by its rock spirelets which tower 750 meters above the steep limestone cliffs of the gorge of Biely potok (the White Creek). From the peak, which is a part of the nature reserve Rozsutec there is a panoramic view of the neighboring Veľký Rozsutec (Big Rozsutec) as well as eastern parts of the northern side of the massif. Rare calcicole flora grows in the surrounding area.
A hike to Malý Rozsutec and Veľký Rozsutec begins at the same starting point – in Štefanová, which can be reached either by bus or car which can be parked in an attended car park. The first leg of the route starts in the hamlet in Štefanová and leads along the yellow tourist route to Podžiar. From there follow the blue signpost to the Medzirozsutce saddle. Here turn left and walk towards the saddle of Zákres where the red hiking mark begins, follow it and right under the peak turn onto the green mark. If you need to get back to Štefanová, walk back the trail which took you to the top. The village Terchová can be reached following the green trail, which will lead you through the settlement called Podrosutec to the village Biely Potok and eventually to the car park of Hotel Diery.
