Since the beginning of the 1960s Terchová has hosted a folklore festival named Janosik’s Days, which has featured international performances since 1992. A monumental amphitheater Nad Bôrami welcomes thousands of folk art lovers who come to celebrate “the Terchová public holiday” with the locals. The incredible music program promises unforgettable experiences and sparkling atmosphere. the musical performances feature a presentation of local and foreign folklore, but also other genres of music and traditional crafts. An indispensable part of of the holiday, horse carriage parade, has been organized since 1968. It takes place on the last day of the festival. Laviskly decorated horses and carriages as well as their owners all with the traditional clothes on, fiddlers playing and singers singing, this truly is a unique spectacle which made Terchova famous at home and abroad. It not less significant that typical traditional music from Terchova was in 2013 included as an element of the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
